The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $36,200, while the highest paid 10 percent earned more than $145,250. Sociologists working for the scientific research and developments earned mean annual salaries of $97,920. Those employed by state governments earned $63,300. College sociology professors earned median annual salaries of $56,310 in May 2015.
