Private equity chief dealmakers do not belong to unions. The Private Equity Growth Capital Council (PEGCC) and Emerging Markets Private Equity (EMPEA) Association are membership organizations for private equity firms, limited partners, fund managers, and related entities. The PEGCC describes itself as “an advocacy, communications, member services and research organization and resource center established to develop, analyze and distribute information about the private equity and growth capital investment industry and its contributions to the national and global economy.” Its Web site (http://www.pegcc.org) provides information on industry trends and the benefits of private equity. According to its Web site (http://empea.org), the EMPEA is an “independent nonprofit organization with over 300 member firms, comprising institutional investors, fund managers and industry advisors, who together manage more than US$1 trillion of assets and have offices in more than 100 countries across the globe.” It offers continuing education opportunities, industry statistics, and an annual conference.
