Demand for all high school teachers, regardless of specialty, is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Job opportunities for photography teachers (along with all art teachers) should be fair. Art education programs are often the first to be eliminated when state or local education budgets are cut. At the college level, employment for all teachers is expected to grow much faster than the average, but the number of photography instructors is relatively small, and competition for jobs will be strong.
