According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the May 2015 median annual salary for cooks in private households was $26,300, with the lowest 10 percent earning less than $19,670 and the top 10 percent earning more than $77,650 annually. PayScale.com reports that median earnings for personal chefs were $41,665 in January 2016. Earnings ranged from less than $23,965 to $89,353 or more.
