Mutual Fund Risk Managers

Work Environment

Risk management professionals work in typical office settings with access to the latest computer technology and office equipment. About one-third of financial managers (including risk managers) worked more than 40 hours per week in 2014, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Most risk managers find the careers to be extremely rewarding, although they may encounter stressful situations when their colleagues or managers disagree with their risk-management recommendations. The job can also be stressful if the risk manager fails to identify a major area of risk before it causes the company to lose money or clients.
