Military police are employed by the U.S. government in various military branches. Of the more than 1.3 million active duty personnel that served in the armed forces as of May 2015, approximately 75,202 were employed in protective services occupations, including military police. Protective service personnel across the military branches: 21,802 in the Army, 32,573 in the Air Force, 2,720 in the Coast Guard, 6,096 in the Marine Corps, and 12,011 in the Navy.
