Mechanical Engineers


The National Association of Colleges and Employers reports that engineers with a bachelor's degree earned average starting salaries of $64,891 in January 2016. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) reports that mechanical engineers had median annual salaries of $83,590 in May 2015. Salaries ranged from less than $53,640 to $128,430 or more. The DOL reports the following mean earnings for mechanical engineers by industry specialty: scientific research and development services, $98,260; federal government, $96,490; aerospace product and parts manufacturing, $93,500; architectural, engineering, and related services, $93,260; and motor vehicle parts manufacturing, $78,830.
