Median annual earnings of mathematicians were $111,110 in May 2015, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Salaries ranged from less than $56,200 to more than $167,250. The average yearly salary for mathematicians (including statisticians) in the federal government was $108,890. The average yearly salary for postsecondary mathematics science teachers was $81,470.
