Landscapers and Grounds Managers

Work Environment

Landscapers and grounds managers spend much of their time outside. Those with administrative or managerial responsibilities spend at least a portion of their workday in an office. Most of the outdoor work is done during daylight hours, but work takes place all year round in all types of weather conditions. Most people in the field work 37 to 40 hours a week, but overtime is especially likely during the summer months when landscapers and grounds managers take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather. Workweeks may be shorter during the winter. Weekend work is highly likely. Managerial personnel should be willing to work overtime updating financial records and making sure the business accounts are in order.
