Insurance Underwriters

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median annual salary for underwriters was $65,040 in May 2015. At the low end of the scale, 10 percent of underwriters earned less than $38,960 per year. The top 10 percent earned $116,600 or more. Experience, certification, and position within the company are all factors influencing salary levels. In addition, most insurance companies have generous employee benefits, normally including liberal vacation allowances and employer-financed group life and retirement plans.
