Industrial Traffic Managers

Outlook

Employment for transportation, storage, and distribution managers is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all careers through 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Large and medium-sized companies are increasingly using computers to store and retrieve records. Computerized conveyor systems, robotics, and trucks, as well as scanners, are increasing productivity and eliminating the need for large numbers of workers. Nevertheless, managers will still be needed to arrange and oversee shipments before they go out and when they arrive.
