The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) reports that maids and household cleaners received median hourly earnings of $9.97 (or $20,740 annually) in May 2015. Earnings ranged from less than $8.18 or hour (or $17,020 annually) to $16.05 or more (or $33,380 annually). Maids and household cleaners received the highest mean annual salaries in the following states and territories: Hawaii ($35,060), District of Columbia ($33,220), New York ($31,600), Nevada ($29,470), and Massachusetts ($27,920).
