Health Care Insurance Navigators

Employment Prospects

Employers

With an estimated 29 million people expected to enroll in health insurance plans through the federal or state health insurance marketplaces by 2020, the prospects for employment as a navigator to assist in such enrollment process remains very good. This is in part because this job only developed in 2010, and the expeditious creation of many positions (and the required training) was necessary in order to accomplish the mission of the Affordable Care Act. The need for certification prior to employment left many open positions to be filled. The need for navigators to renew certification (requiring additional education and testing) will likely result in some turnover of current navigators, providing opportunities for those newly trained.
