Geodetic surveyors employed in the United States in January 2018 earned an average base salary of $68,361, as reported by Salary Expert. Salaries ranged from $48,959 or less to $84,358 or more. In May 2016, surveyors earned a median annual salary of $59,390, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The middle 50 percent earned between $44,350 and $78,800 a year. The lowest paid 10 percent were paid less than $33,630, and the highest paid 10 percent earned over $98,360 a year. In general, natural gas distribution companies paid the the highest wages to its surveyors, $87,930 per year, and the federal government paid the second highest wages to its surveyors, $86,230 per year.
