In January 2018, Glassdoor reported salaries for fuel cell engineers that ranged from $62,000 to $106,000 or more. The U.S. Department of Labor does not provide salary information for fuel cell technology workers. It does provide salary data for mechanical engineers, who had median earnings of $84,190 in May 2016. The lowest 10 percent earned $54,420 and the top 10 percent earned $131,350. Those who worked in scientific research and development services earned about $99,180 per year, while those who worked in motor vehicle parts manufacturing averaged $81,510 per year.
