Fire Safety Technicians

Work Environment

Fire safety technicians may experience danger when assisting or observing fire-fighting or when inspecting and analyzing structures damaged or destroyed by fire. Floors, walls, or entire buildings can collapse on firefighters as they work to save lives and property. Exposure to smoke, fumes, chemicals, and gases can injure or kill. Most of the duties, however, are performed in offices where the surroundings are clean, safe, and comfortable.
