Exercise Physiologists

Work Environment

Exercise physiologists work in a variety of settings, each dependent on their specialty. Clinics, hospitals, and other health care facilities often have brightly lit, comfortable rooms designated for physical therapy or rehabilitation exercises. Some clinical sessions may take place within the patient's private hospital or nursing home room, especially if the patient is too weak for transport. Exercise physiologists may also have an office or cubicle in which to create care plans or do charting. Therapy sessions usually are scheduled during the workweek with a typical 9-to-5 schedule, but some facilities may offer rehab therapy during weekends or in the evenings.
