Energy Efficiency Engineers

Outlook

The Department of Labor predicts slower than average employment growth for most engineering and architecture occupations through 2024. Technological improvements to engineering tools, such as surveying equipment and design software, have made it possible to get the work done with fewer employees than in the past. Energy efficiency engineers will have employment opportunities, however, due to the growing interest in efficient and cost-saving energy systems. Employment growth will stem from growth in the construction industry, which is expected to continue through 2024. More commercial and residential building and renovations are projected for the coming years, and demand will increase for energy efficiency engineers to advise on the most productive and efficient energy systems.
