Median annual earnings for all editors were $56,010 in May 2015, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $29,230, and the highest paid 10 percent earned $109,760 or more. The mean annual earnings for all editors in newspaper, periodical, book, and directory publishing were $64,060, while those employed by colleges, universities, and professional schools earned $58,880.
