Employment of food batchmakers in sugar and confectionery product manufacturing is expected to decline by 11.5 percent from 2014 to 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. It reports that "food manufacturing companies increasingly are using automation to raise productivity. As these companies further consolidate their facilities and streamline production processes, they will need fewer workers to operate machines."
