Asbestos Abatement Technicians


Hazardous materials removal workers had median annual earnings of $40,640 in May 2016, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Those in the lowest 10 percent earned less than $26,630 annually, and those in the highest 10 percent earned $74,160 or more. In March 2016, reported the national average salary for asbestos abatement technician was $39,000. Apprentices earn about 50 percent of journeymen (skilled asbestos abatement technicians) wages, including fringe benefits. With larger companies, full-time asbestos abatement technicians can expect some benefits, such as health and life insurance. Most employers also pay for initial training and annual refresher courses.
