Trial-ready advocates

At our core, we are a tight-knit partnership of inspired and experienced trial lawyers.  We regularly try cases throughout the country in matters that capture headlines, change industries, and advance the cause of justice for our individual clients. When it comes to recognitions and awards for the legal work of partners, our boutique firm is frequently ahead of law firms many times our size. Over a third of our lawyers have served in government positions as prosecutors, public defenders, regulators or government officials presiding over important policy issues which gives us valuable insight and experience in trial tactics, criminal investigations, and regulatory matters.

Commitment to client service

Our firm has thrived as a result of our litigation success, but also because of our commitment to treating our clients with personal attention, dedication and respect.

Unlike many law firms, we take a lean approach to staffing cases – using focused teams of experienced attorneys where possible who interact often with our clients, delivering quality work product and customized service. No client is taken for granted, and every client receives hands-on attention from partners who ‎personally ensure work quality, efficiency, and results.

Commitment to pro bono work

Zuckerman Spaeder has a distinguished commitment to providing pro bono services within the community. Performing legal work pro bono is one way we do our part to help those in need. It’s worth remembering that the full phrase is pro bono publico—for the public good. It serves the public good to make sure that everyone has an opportunity for justice in our courts. This principle is central to who we are as a firm and who we are as lawyers. Much of our pro bono work involves direct representation of low-income individuals or the organizations that represent them. Many of these representations are referred to us by federal and state courts or by legal service providers because they present important issues of law, have the potential to benefit a large number of people, or are particularly challenging. Pro bono work by lawyers and law firms helps to fill this gap and doing our part has been a core value since the firm’s founding. The firm has an extensive docket of pro bono matters and long-standing relationships with leading legal services organizations.  In 2019, as always, all firm offices engaged in substantial pro bono representations, with partners, counsel and associates in the firm’s DC office devoting 4% of their billable hours to represent low-income individuals or the organizations that represent them.

Your Career at Zuckerman Spaeder

The lawyers at Zuckerman Spaeder have a common goal—to provide clients with sophisticated and zealous representation. Our success is driven by a commitment to our clients and the close working relationships among our attorneys. We hire attorneys of exceptional skill and character. We seek attorneys who bring the intellectual rigor and passionate advocacy that are the firm’s hallmarks. We are highly selective and evaluate each candidate carefully. We expect those we hire to become part of the fabric of the firm and trusted friends and colleagues for years to come. There are many reasons to come to Zuckerman Spaeder. We attract high-profile representations, ranging from high-stakes criminal cases to bet-the-company civil litigation and complicated class action matters. We staff our cases as leanly as possible and call upon our young attorneys to assume significant responsibility. And we work in a warm, close-knit environment, where we cultivate personal relationships based not only on life in the office, but also life outside of it.  Each of our offices (Baltimore, New York, Tampa, and Washington, DC) are currently accepting applications for associate positions.
