Milbank LLP

Global Firm, Collaborative Culture

Our deals are cross-border, our clients are international, and our more than 700 attorneys work in 12 offices around the world. A “small, big firm,” we’re known for being collegial and supportive while always challenging ourselves to deliver exceptional results. Lawyers from our global offices and practices work together on complex, high-stakes matters and truly enjoy collaborating to serve clients and grow in their careers.

We’re recognized for our top-tier practices such as financial restructuring, litigation, transactional and finance. Our clients include established, leading brands and up-and-coming innovators, from major financial institutions like Citibank to new media and Internet companies like Funny Or Die. Our work is honored with prestigious awards, including practice of the year and deal of the year awards. Some of our practices, like our Transportation and Space Group, even take us out of this world.

Committed to Our People

We invest in our lawyers by providing unparalleled professional development opportunities. This starts with our immersive summer program, which includes a summer-long, in-depth training program walking summer associates through the entire life cycle of a company. First-year transactional associates broaden their perspectives through our 12-month rotation program through three practice groups while as well as our Deals@Milbank training, which provides a broad base of training for junior associates over their first three years. Litigators hone their advocacy and communication skills through our Advocacy@Milbank training series, another comprehensive, multi-level program featuring hands-on, interactive workshops and, an intensive writing program.

For mid-levels in the third year and up, our Milbank@Harvard program offers bespoke, best-in-class training unlike anything offered by other firms, with intensive weeks spent in Cambridge each year learning from renowned Harvard Law and Business School professors.

Our pro bono work is an essential part of this commitment. We believe that access to legal counsel, regardless of ability to pay, is a fundamental right of all people. We expect each of our lawyers to commit at least 25 hours to pro bono a year – most greatly exceed this amount.  Our pro bono projects, which often center around helping children with asylum, education, appeals and resentencing, help sharpen our lawyers’ skills while also serving our communities.

Our commitment to diversity brings us together and we take pride in our affinity groups and other initiatives that contribute to our inclusive culture. Our Women’s Initiative is committed to fostering a culture of opportunity and a platform for success for women at the firm.
