Work experience with in-built flexibility. As a summer associate, you’ll be paired with a partner mentor, an associate mentor and an office-mate who will help you navigate your way through the firm’s systems and operations. Until you’ve tried the work, gotten to know your colleagues, met the clients and experienced the challenges of working at an international firm, you won’t know which area of law will best suit you. That’s why our U.S. summer program offers you the flexibility to try as many practice areas as you wish, and there are no formal rotations. So keep an open mind for now.
Work experience with a purpose. We give new associates “‘live’” work assignments in every practice area, ensuring their experience is meaningful. For example, one recent summer associate was part of the team that successfully sought a writ of cert to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend a $200m arbitral award rendered against a South American country.
Work experience outside the U.S. We encourage summer associates to spend two weeks in one of our offices overseas, such as Amsterdam, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, London, Madrid, or Singapore. Our attorneys love the international nature of their work, not just because it is multifaceted and interesting, but also because ’it helps them get to know people from across the firm.
Top of the market for pay and perks. Our recruits get a market-leading compensation and benefits package. First-year associates earn $190,000 plus bonuses. They also get 20 days of vacation a year in addition to the U.S. holidays.
